iPhone Instructions

Product Requirements

For use on iPhone, you will need: 

  1. iPhone 8 or newer equipped with iOS 13 or above.

Setup your Stash with the Stash Password Manager app on your iPhone 

  1. Download the Stash app on your iPhone by clicking here or by searching "Stash Password Manager" in the App Store.
  2. Open the Stash app on your iPhone.
  3. On the intro screen, read the instructions and select “Setup up your Stash” to begin. A “Ready to Scan” popup will be displayed to scan your Stash.
  4. Press and hold the blue button on your Stash and tap it to the back of your iPhone near the top edge until you receive a success notification in the Stash Password Manager app. (Note: You don’t need to push the button very hard as you should feel a small click)

Creating/adding accounts to your Stash

  1. Tap the “+” icon in the top right corner of the Stash Password Manager app.
  2. Enter the company name.
  3. Enter your username.
  4. Edit your display name if needed.
  5. Enter your existing password or if you need to generate a password, click the password generator icon next to the “Password” field.
  6. Tap “Add” in the top right corner of the screen when finished and the “Ready to Scan” popup will display.
  7.  Press and hold the button on your Stash and tap it to the back of your iPhone near the top edge until you receive a success notification in the Stash Password Manager app.
  8. Your login credentials are now securely stored in your Stash.

Viewing the usernames and passwords saved in your Stash

  1. Open the Stash Password Manager app on your iPhone.
  2. In the Stash Password Manager app, tap the account for which you would like to view your login credentials and the “Ready to Scan” popup will display.
  3. Press and hold the button on your Stash and tap it to the back of your iPhone near the top edge until you receive a success notification in the Stash Password Manager app.
  4. Once you see your login credentials appear in the Stash Password Manager app, you can tap the icon to the right of the fields to copy the one you need.
  5. Go to the website or the app that you are wanting to log into and paste them into the appropriate fields.
  6. You can also manually enter the credentials where you need to.

How to backup your Stash

  1. Click the hamburger menu (located in the top left corner) in the Stash app and select “Settings”.
  2. Select "Export your Stash".
  3. You will be prompted to create a password for the backup file. Enter your desired password. (You will be asked to enter this password whenever you restore to this backup)
  4. Hold your Stash to the back of your iPhone while pressing the button on your Stash until the process is complete. This can take up to 20 seconds to complete depending on how many accounts you have.
  5. Choose the desired location to store your encrypted backup file and click save.

Note: We recommend that you keep your .stash file in a safe and secure location

Restoring your Stash

  1. You can access the “Restore” function by clicking the hamburger menu (located in the top left corner) in the Stash app and selecting “Settings.”
  2. Next select “Restore your Stash”.
  3. Enter your password for your backup file. 
  4. Find and select your backup file. 
  5. Hold your Stash to the back of your phone while pressing the button on your Stash until the process is complete. This can take up to 20 seconds to complete depending on how many accounts you have.
